Introduction

In its second year of operation Landex has gone from strength to strength under the leadership of our immediate past Chairman, Chris Moody and our Chief Executive, Vic Croxson with membership having increased yet again. The reputation and therefore influence of our organisation through the great work member Principal’s from Further and Higher Education institutions undertake on various regional and national bodies also continues to increase.

We are successfully informing national policy through our relationship with DCSF, DIUS, LSC, HEFCE and our sector skills council LANTRA to name but a few of the bodies we work closely with. During these turbulent times it is essential that Landex members have a strong voice and are able to influence decision makers particularly in relation to further and higher education and rural and business strategy.

Member colleges are also really recognising the benefit of our Quality Improvement Strategy through a peer review and support framework, delivered expertly by Graham Patrick our Quality Improvement Director. This is held up as an example of good practice by the new Learning and Skills Improvement Service and is ahead of its time with regard to the further education self-regulation agenda.

Finally I would like to thank officers and directors for their huge efforts and all members for their continuing support.
